The post-master's certificate in college teaching is designed to assist college-level academic subject experts in mastering instructional skills, including the ability to teach effectively online. This specialization prepares experts to excel as teachers by acquiring knowledge of learning theory, educational philosophy, classroom assessment, and course design; and by developing essential instructional skills. Graduate certificate credits can be applied toward our PhD program.

Residency Requirements:

  • One-week colloquium session (Track I)

Required Courses:

  • ED851 - Principles of Learning and Instructional Design - 4 credits
  • ED7700 - Learning Theory and the Educational Process - 4 credits
  • ED7712 - Classroom Assessment in Education - 4 credits
  • ED8444 - Higher Education Curriculum Development and Teaching Strategies - 4 credits OR
  • ED8600 - Effective Online Course Design, Delivery, Facilitation, and Assessment - 4 credits

In addition, all learners must complete one residential colloquium focused on acquiring and demonstrating teaching, classroom research, and career development competencies.
